WORKING WITH ME

If you've never hired a voice-over artist, this brief guide will show you what to expect and what I need from you in order to deliver a voice-over that will create a strong bond between your brand and your customers.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Confidentiality - any information and materials exchanged between us will be used solely to deliver a voice-over service.

  • Professionally recorded and produced voice-over that exactly follows your brief.

  • Clear communication - when you obtain your quote, you will also be informed of the expected delivery date so you can plan ahead.

BEFORE YOU GET IN TOUCH:

In order to give you an accurate quote, I will need the following information from you:

  • The length of the text in words

  • The medium in which my voice will be used (is it a wild recording, will it be later added to a video, do you require lip sync?)

  • How will the voice be used? Will it only be used internally within your company? Will it be broadcast on television, radio or the Internet? Will it be used at tradeshows?

All those factors will affect the price, so I will need them in order to give you an accurate quote.

WHAT I NEED FROM YOU IN ORDER TO START RECORDING:

I will need the following information so I can start recording your voice-over straight away:

  • The script (if it's been translated from another language, please make sure that it is correct - most translators translate the text to be read, not to be spoken out loud. I can correct it for you for an additional fee, but it might delay the recording process).

  • The brief - this is the bit where you tell me how you want me to sound. If you've never hired a voice-over, it might be difficult for you to describe what you want. If that's the case, think of the following things: How do you want the listener to feel when they hear the voice-over? What do you want them to do? Who are they? Do you want them to get excited about your product? Do you want to reassure them that they are in safe hands? Do you want them to feel that they are receiving information from a reliable source?

  • Pronunciation of proper names - if the company name, product names or any other names have non-standard pronunciations, please let me know how you want them to be pronounced. A recording on your phone or a link to a video where the name is being pronounced will do. If you prefer, we can always have a quick Skype/Facetime or phone call.

  • Link to the video - if the voice-over is going to be added to a video, it will be helpful to see it to get a general idea. It also helps me with timing the voice-over.

  • Different language version - some clients send me the video with the same voice-over but in a different language or just the voice-over if it's already been produced, but don't worry if you don't have one.

  • Formatting - I always save a .wav version of the audio file. If you have any requirements regarding the sampling rate and the bit rate, let me know.

HOW LONG IT TAKES:

As a rule of thumb, a 10-minute voice-over can be delivered to you within 24 hours, depending on my availability. I will let you know the timelines when I send you my quote.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

You will receive the voice-over via WeTransfer (or any other way you want) and you will be able to review it and see if you like it. If you're happy, I will send you my invoice.

I might ask you for a testimonial and whether I can share on social media that I've worked on your project (unless it's, of course, confidential). I believe that it's mutually beneficial to our marketing efforts.

If you have any other questions, feel free to get in touch.
